T206 Cobalt Rectangle Toolbits

This material is the standard high-cobalt material used at Metalbor and gives excellent performance at high rates of
cut in both standard and highly-alloyed steels, cast alloys and Titanium alloys. It tolerates vibration and interrupted
cuts. It is in most respects superior to M35 5% cobalt HSS which is used as the standard cobalt material in Europe.

Rectangular section toolbits are manufactured similarly to squares. They routinely have square (90°)
end condition since it is not predicted in which orientation the tool will be used. The number of sections which
can be offered at standard prices is now much less than formerly. This is contrary to Metalbor intention, but
is due to the concentration of production of raw High Speed Steels in only a few hands. Whereas it was once
easy to commission special sections in great variety from many reliable Sheffield makers, the steel suppliers
now require such large amounts per ‘heat’ and such long deliveries, that the range is increasingly restricted.
Therefore, particularly for rectangular sections, supply beyond existing stocks is not always possible, and
prices may not be maintained for new supply.
