M2 High Speed Steel Multiple straight flutes generally to BSS 328 part 5 (1983)
Morse Taper Shank Form C of DIN334, DIN335
Countersinks for general-purpose operation in a wide range of materials, including tough ferrous alloys, and
suitable for use in bench drills and fixed machine tools. Multiflutes make for smooth cutting, good surface finish,
and in most circumstances a reduced tendency to chatter, as tooth loading is lessened, compared to tools with
fewer teeth which are today most widely available. (For 3-Flute tools please see TRUBOR No. 457B).
Available routinely in 60° included angle (DIN334) and 90° (DIN335).
Other angles and diameters can be supplied to special order. The quantity ordered will determine the unit price.
INCH SIZES in this type are being phased out, and will be available whilst stocks last. Metric alternatives will
be available for these diameters.
* Number of teeth (Z) in countersinks may not cover all the current stocks, and cutters with small differences in the number of teeth
to those shown above may be supplied. Note that, by common convention, metric sizes may be supplied with odd numbers of flutes,
which in some circumstances may reduce chatter and ‘patterning’ of the countersunk surface. In fractional size it has usually been
normal to keep with even numbers of flutes.
PLEASE NOTE THAT COUNTERSINKS are suitable for sinking a range of diameters, so that the large (outside) tool diameter
is rarely critical, and therefore near fractional and metric sizes may be used interchangeably. This increases the range of options.
