Used in drilling from solid in a range of composite materials where the long tapered nose produces a clean, well-sized hole
with far less tendency to delaminate the material on entry and breakout than with normal twist drill geometries. A high speed
and low feed rate is required. Suitable for thin-section materials where enough space is available beyond the hole to permit
passage of the full diameter through the work. The use of backing material is not usually necessary, but may reduce delamination
and fibre pull-out still further
